Glenn Beck picks apart the John Kerry fiasco
I have to admit I hadn't seen much of Glenn Beck before. Recently I was pointed to another video of his discussing media bias. I found this one thereafter. I know this is old news now, but I thought this was a great analysis of the whole incident. Amazing that Kerry is so bad at making jokes and then still bad at apologizing for his 'misspoken' and 'misinterpreted' remarks. I know there has been plenty of discussion on this already, so I'll try to be brief.
Having served in the military myself, I can backup the study he references that the percentages of intelligent men and women in the military is far higher than that of the general populace. There are entrance requirements you know. I will grant you they were not as high when I got in, but they are there all the same. All that aside, the men I served with were very educated, they had to be to know how to do their job. I was in a highly technical rate so the bar was much higher there, but even in the other less technical rates there was a demanding knowledge requirement.
Oh I know what you're thinking, he was talking about the president, right? In case you missed something, the president in spite of any shortcomings he may have, has a college education. It is from a very reputable institution. This was no honorary diploma. He went to class (at least some of the time) like any other college student and did the work necessary to satisfy the curriculum requirements. As I am also a currently enrolled college student at a major university, I can say this is no easy process. Every college graduate knows this. Mr. Kerry should also. I can't imagine where the thought process could go that would result in the 'joke' he was trying to tell. Certainly his audience were college students and it would make sense to try and include them in your speech in some way. What does not make sense is trying to impune the president in the process in such a ridiculous manner. It makes no sense to say if you study hard and make the most of your education you will do well, otherwise you end up stuck in Iraq. It makes no sense to say otherwise you get us stuck in Iraq either. All you end up doing is making yourself look foolish as if he hadn't done that before. I think becoming President of the United States is doing pretty well. Clearly Mr. Bush has taken Mr. Kerry's advice and yet still here we are in Iraq anyway.
Just in case there was any doubt, John Kerry has no business in politics. If he truly has this much disdain for our troops, I don't feel he should have any role in the political process. I doubt he would ever try to run for president again, but if he did I would like to think it would be a dismal failure, much like his 'joke'. It occurs to me that in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I should be thankful this man is not running our country. Obviously I have plenty of other things to be thankful for, but that might be another post, who knows? Thoughts?
