No Seatbelt, No excuse(video)
Pretty rough, but makes a good point.
This is one of those things that just tears me up to see. I realize this is a dramatic reenactment and all, but the way they did it was really powerful. I'm curious to see if there are that many people out there still that don't wear their seatbelts. I grew up wearing one consistently and have continued that trend ever since. I remember an accident I was in with my Dad and sister that involved two other cars. Everyone in our car was wearing their seatbelt. All the other people involved were not and they all needed medical attention afterward except one guy who just ended up stuck upside down in his floorboard. I can't remember for sure, but I think he just got a little scraped up in the process. One lady hit her windshield with her head. Those of us that were wearing seatbelts had a little bit of bruising and soreness around the seatbelt area, but nothing that lasted more than a couple of days. We walked away virtually unscathed. I can only imagine a similar situation to that depicted in the video if I had not been wearing my seatbelt at the time. I was in the same position in the car that this guy was, only my sister was on the right and my Dad was driving. I would have a pretty hard time coping with a situation where I was the one who hurt or killed my family or friends by flopping around in the car like that. Thoughts?
