Mysterious flower has been loosely categorized
I remember hearing about a flower similar to this before. Not sure if it was the same one or not. It has blooms measuring three feet across and weighing fifteen pounds. It smells like rotting flesh to lure flies in to pollinate it. Apparently it doesn't even use photosynthesis for energy and yet gives off heat to further simulate a fresh corpse. It also uses other plants for it's roots and foundation and the only part of it you see is the bloom. Wild stuff. Scientists have used genetic analysis to solve the long-standing mystery of the lineage of the rafflesia flower, known for its blood-red bloom measuring three feet (1 meter) wide and its nauseating stench of rotting flesh published in the journal Science on January 11, 2007.
